Better signage to indicate if car users can use a bus lane.
On the white line that shows the position of bus lanes, lights (which have the ability to change colour from red to green) need to be positioned which show if the bus lane can be used by cars. The lights would be positioned like cats eyes and when showing green, cars are allowed to drive/park in the bus lane if it shows red it is only accessable for buses/taxis and motorbikes.
Why the contribution is important
A lot of the bus lanes in Bristol are not 24 hours but due to peoples ignorance/poor signage they are not used when they can. I prime example of this is inbound on the Wells Road, the bus lane is only operational between the hours of 0700 and 1000 Monday to Friday but outside of these times hardly any cars use the bus lane, hence it turns a two lane inbound road into just a one lane inbound road. If people did use the bus lane when they can it would reduce congestion, especially on a weekend.
