Branding Bristol
My idea is to finally give Bristol a strong branding. Branding easily recognizable that we all could identify with and be proud of. The same way fashion labels, computer companies or famous hotels are branded but with citizen's input. We all know good brands do sell well...
Why the contribution is important
To successfully boost city’s' economy we need to recognize and focus on what we already have here, highlight it and promote it. Not only in a one off project or initiative but as a whole city. Bristol needs good new branding. To be able to tract investors, creative thinkers and visitors. We've got great heritage sites and buildings, parks and green spaces like many other cities in UK. But we've also have one of the strongest graffiti scene, fantastic creatives, famous and unique brands like Aardman or Trunkie. We've got strong communities, relaxing atmosphere and easy going life approach. What's missing is one strong brand to highlight all of these things. Many cities around the world benefited from re branding: Melbourne, Glasgow, Wroclaw in Poland, not to mention Barcelona or NYC. Below you'll find two links to articles supporting this otherwise obvious idea. But to really understand the potential of strong brand identity we need to understand what branding really is, as it is much more than just a pretty logo.
