Bristol European Capital of Culture

Bristol should become European Capital of Culture. The city possesses great wealth of street art by artist Banksy. This art should be showed-off to visitors from around the world. This is unique, as no other city has art on the public streets which is of high value. It would also be a great event for the local to take pride in their city, celebrate it by attending a variety of cultural events.

It is still not too late to aim for 2015, or 2016.

Why the contribution is important

Becoming European Capital of Culture will attract tourist, increase spending on local businesses. Preparing a European Capital of Culture can be an opportunity for the city to generate considerable cultural, social and economic benefits and it can help foster urban regeneration, change the city's image and raise its visibility and profile on an international scale. This in turn could attract investment. Increased profile could also help to retain local talent, which often leaves for London, or other big cities.
