Earth hour

It will be good to have earth hour every month.,.   switching off the lights for an hour every month..

If the whole of Bristol is involved we can save a lot of energy and it will be a fun time enjoying and spending the time with families over candle lights.

Why the contribution is important

Energy conservation

I say, longer than an hour is needed. Someone else also had this similar idea called starry starry night might.

We have been towing with the idea for a while in particular as Helsinki had an arts installation that projected the energy consumption of their residents onto a power plant:

The Bristol situation is slightly different in that we do not have a power plant in the city and it would also need somebody to drive this forward and to secure funding/sponsorship as there is a cost to all of this.

However, we would very much like to develop a citywide energy campaign with a focus on energy efficiency in co-operation with the Department of Energy and Climate Change as a follow up to the British Energy Challenge.

Any further ideas around this are very welcome.
