Introduce additional plastic bag charge

Introduce an additional 5p charge on plastic bags in Bristol. This would be in addition to any charges introduced for England or by the individual shops for bags.

Why the contribution is important

Reduces the use of single-use plastic bags in Bristol, increases the use of reusable shopping bags.

Supports the principles of European green capital.

Increases revenue for the city.

Improves our environment.

Put it up to 20p and people will really start to remember their shopping bags. Many European countries already do this and we should do the same to not stay behind and for all the reasons already mentioned above.
