Solar Panels/motion lighting for Council Buildings

My idea is for all Council run buildings to be fitted with Solar Panels and also fitted with motion sensor lighting

Why the contribution is important

This would be a great idea so it will cut the cost of running certain aspects of the building and also lower the cost of electricity bills and lower the carbon footprint

Combined with other light reducing ideas this is great.

It might be helpful to know that we are in the process of implementing one of the largest solar programmes in the country with over £47m of works currently being procured out to contractors. This includes our own office buildings, schools, community buildings, social housing and ground mounted PV in Avonmouth. The first installations will be carried out from April/May on.

We already have motion sensor lighting in some of our buildings and are currently trialling different options under our SALIX Scheme so that this can be implemented in all our buildings in the longer term.
