The next garden city

By combining many of the great ideas on this website and turn Bristol into the next, actually working, Garden City and in this way also bagging ourselves The Lord Wolfson price which we can invest into many of the great projects suggested here and in this way tackling many of the issues highlighted rather than just the one.

Why the contribution is important

Because Bristol is made up of many different people who all experience different issues which are all important.

Can you tell us more about your concept of a garden city? You idea is a bit short on details at the moment. Thanks.

Back in the day, 60's I think, there was this idea to create a garden city of which there is not such a pretty example: Milton Keynes. Lord Wolfson, big-wig for Next, has offered a price of £250k for the person to create a working garden city where people get actively involved in their environment, are able to grow some (if not most) of their own food, where there is free space that people can use, great transport links, great bio diversity and the creation of green electricity and the over al reduction of light, noise and general pollution. Basically a great place to live. Now, Lord Wolfon suggested to completely redesign a new city but would it not be far easier, and much less hassle, and cheaper I imagine, to turn our current great cities into garden cities? I think we can do this by combining many of the great ideas posted here and getting various people together with similar ideas. That way we don't loose any bodies contribution, create ourselves an even more beautiful city that works better for everyone and save ourselves a load of cash while at the same increase our revenue and win The Lord Wolfson price which we can also reinvest back into the city. In addition to that bucket load of Euros we re also about to bag ourselves!

Yhin, how about creating a set of links to Ideas in the Lab that you're thinking of in another comment? That would help flesh out what sounds like a very positive idea.
